Week ending September 27: first light to autonomous perception

The late-week build moved from camera installation to a perception pipeline that started after reboot.

The recorded work for September 26–27 moved RC-01 from a newly installed camera to autonomous perception. First light proved the wide camera could capture a usable full-resolution image. The following session established Hailo communication, live inference, and a service that started on its own after reboot.

Two separate ribbon-orientation mistakes shaped that progress: first the camera cable, then the HAT’s PCIe cable. Both were corrected with power removed. Software checks were useful evidence, but they could not repair a reversed physical interconnect.

Recognition tests kept the success in perspective. A bottle became a surfboard or airplane depending on orientation, and a seated user could leave the camera’s usable field of view by leaning back. The presence gate gained frame-level aggregation and structured events, while physical coverage and general classification stayed open.

The next priorities were a better seated camera position and a downstream state layer. This roundup covers the two dated build sessions available for this week; it does not invent activity for the unrecorded days.
